The Saami are the indigenous people of northern Europe. In this country they are respected as a minority who blend an age-old way of life with the high-tech world that is Finland today. Whilst many Saami still hunt, fish and herd reindeer, others work in service jobs or white collar professions. The Saami language is related to Finnish but the Saami genome is distinct from others.
