Born in 1946 (Lisbon). First studies of drawing and ceramics in school with the painter and sculptor Martins Correia.In 1970 he met the poet Nicolau Saiao and started his first collages and poems. In 1971 they subscribed a letter in "Republica "Five years after the Andre Breton`s dead". In 1973 joined to the Surrealist Group in Lisbon. Several colaborations in surrealist activities namely with poems-collages published in "& Etc." the art section of "Jornal do Fundao" (a portuguese newspaper very known by its positions against the dictatorship). During the same year (1973) he organized with Nicolau Saiao a series of exhibitions all over the country, namely in Torres Novas, Portalegre, Setubal, Seixal and Cova da Piedade. He met Pedro Oom (one of the first activists and members of portuguese surrealist group founded in 1947) and also Lud, a surrealist painter. During these years he published poems and collages and other surrealist interventions on publications such as "Seara Nova" ("The political intervention of Surrealism - limits and contradictions"), "Republica", "Diario de Lisboa", "A Nossa Terra", "Expresso", "SOL XXI" and "A Cidade" a Portalegre`s magazine".
